Description

Rarely seen on the Pre-Owned sales market, this superb rifle package was manufactured by Bailons Gunmakers Limited of 94-95 Bath Street, Birmingham. Using the classic Mauser 98 action as a starting point, Bailons skilled gunsmiths then added a high-grade barrel, Timney trigger and a superbly figured Walnut stock with Monte-Carlo cheekpiece before engraving the action, scope rings and bases and the outside of the barrel chamber with tasteful arabesque scroll work. The rifle has been fitted with a classic Swarovski Habicht 6x42 Nova scope, whilst a traditional English style recoil pad and butter knife handled bolt finishes the gun off perfectly. A great rifle for a collector, the 7mm Mauser (also known as 7x57 and sometimes .275 Rigby) makes a lovely hill and woodland round. Traditional Birmingham rifles like this tend to be kept by the owning families, making this a true gem for the right shooter.
