RUGER .22-250 VARMINT M77 MK1 BOLT ACTION RIFLE.
Heavy / Varmint weight older model M77 MK1 Bolt Action Rifle from Ruger. Original Full Length 24” (610mm) unsighted and un-threaded blued barrel. Straight and strong grained stock with a good band of contrasting stripes from tip to recoil pad. Pull is 14 ¾” (350mm) and produces an overall length of 44 1/8” (1120mm). Weight is a SOLID 8 Lbs 12 oz (3.962 Kg). While this is not needed to assist with recoil once on target it will stay where it is pointing.
The MK1 versions like this have a Tang mounted safety, similar to a shotgun. They are easy to use in either hand and often preferred by left handed shooters over other makes. The stock does have some minor blemishes but for a rifle from this era they can be classed as minimal. Hinged floor plate magazine and YES the action is a close copy of a traditional Mauser 98. OK, the bolts do swagger and rattle about when cycled BUT THAT makes no difference. It is the lock up on a bolt that is critical to accuracy not how ‘smooth’ the bolt runs!
At this price the rifle is less than half that of new today so this does offer a good saving. Whilst long range paper is not particularly associated with the calibre long range foxes and vermin certainly are.
