Evans, William 12 gauge Boxlock Ejector (Fixed Choke)

Description

Fine original condition 12 Bore William Evans boxlock ejector shotgun. Oil finished one piece straight hand stock, finished with carved drop points as well as scroll engraved iron heel and toe plates. The stock is accompanied by a matching game style forend with bolstered shoulders and a scroll engraved forend tip surrounding the push rod release catch.
Colour case hardened boxlock action engraved with the words 'William Evans, from Purdeys, London' on each side surrounded by fine cut floral scroll work, with deep carved leaf fences.
The action is set alongside a pair of 30" fixed choke barrels of which both bores are in excellent condition and measure very well in terms of proof with a minimum thickness of 32 thou. on both tubes, with a concave game rib with dolls head extension.
Blued scroll engraved screw grip top lever and pointed trigger guard tang engraved with the Evan's number of 4759, automatic safety catch with the word SAFE finished in gold coloured inlay.
We can confirm that the gun was made in 1900 by Webley in Birmingham for William Evans who sold it to Cpt David Graeme of the Seaforth Highlanders Regiment, whose name is painted on the lid of the original canvas case.
