VERY EARLY BROWNING SUPERPOSED 12G TWO BARREL SET OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN. EXCELLENT CONDITION Very Early example 12g Browning Super-Posed Standard Model Pigeon Grade TWIN Barrel Set Over and Under Shotgun. With a Serial number like this and still in the condition everything is the gun is actually quite REMARKABLE. ESPECIALLY given it dates back to April 1936. As detailed this gun is Presented with TWO sets of Matching Barrels. The first a nominally short 30” (760mm) Pair with Fixed Chokes at Full and Full restrictions. IDEAL for those Serious / Quality LONG birds. These also feature a slightly raised Ventilated ¼” (6mm) Sighting Rib. The top with Matt Finish Cross File Cut and Twin White Sighting Beads. The Second set again a nominal 28” (709mm) with ½ to the lower barrel and ¾ restriction on top. A Lower set but the same Cross File Cut Matt finish and a Single Brass Front bead. Stock comes in at a pull length of 14 5/8” (370mm) to bring in an overall at 46 ½” OR 44 ½”. (1180mm OR 1130mm) Depending on which barrels fitted. Rounded Prince of Wales Pistol Grip and Nice Strong Straight Grain Pattern. Good Colour contrast to the Decorative Walnut Stock. Finished off with its Original Butt Plate with Browning along with Superposed detail in circles. There IS a small chip missing from the toe but …. The Action finished in Fine Foliate Hand Cut Engraving with Heavier Cut Oak Leaf to each Shoulder Bolster. All surrounding Flighting Pigeons set into an Oval Vignette. For those unfamiliar ‘Pigeon Grade’ guns are always amongst the BEST of what a manufacturer has to offer. At least they CERTAINLY WERE back in the days when this was produced. The gun comes complete in its Original Branded Leather covered Hard Transit Case. Along with a selection of paperwork which Includes a letter of Provenance direct from The Browning Historical Department. Seriously Old and Collectable guns like this do turn up but NOT often. In THIS Condition? RARELY. In the UK even RARER. There IS a more than fare chance this will end up back across that BIG puddle (the Atlantic). Once it gets some traction on line and our American ‘cousins’ find it I suspect it wont hand around too long.
