BROWNING FN. 16 GAUGE A5 SEMI AUTOMATIC SHOTGUN. 16 Gauge / 16 Bore Auto 5 Semi-Automatic Shotgun from Browning FN in Belgium. Birth place of MANY of the Top / High End options available from Browning. 27 ½” (700mm) Plain, None Ribbed Barrel with a Single Ramp Mounted Brass Front Sight Bead. Fixed Choke at approx. ½ restriction and Traditional 2 ½” (65mm) Chamber. (There REALLY is NO requirement for anything bigger. Just THINK back and ask how did anyone even ‘survive’ when that is all there was)?! Rounded Prince of Wales Pistol Grip Stock with 14 3/8” (365mm) pull bringing in an overall length at 46 ¾” (1188mm). Scales registering a straight 7 Lbs 4 oz (3.29 Kg). There are general overall signs of use and wear but there SHOULD be. Especially considering the serial number apparently puts this gun to a 1924 production. (28683). Anyone not particularly well into engineering and design needs to take one of these apart. These guns ARE THAT WELL MADE they will convert you. Also bear in mind the genius that was John Browning. The FACT that he designed and produced this, the very first reliable semi-automatic self-loading shotgun in the world. That every other gun since is basically a spin off from his original. Also that the 16 Gauge is technically the ‘perfect’ calibre for shotgun too. These older guns even have corresponding last two digit serial numbers to the main action screws. All held perfectly in place with locking grub screws. These older examples feature the Trigger Guard mounted push forward / back Manual Safety button. Magazine cut off lever and all finished with its Original Pressed Buffalo Horn Butt Plate with Full Logo Detail. There are NO REAL marks or blemishes of any note to detail. Yes, patination to the metal work in general but still a MORE than clean enough example of this Iconic gun. Woodwork is in generally similar and Good condition too. Chequering is showing its use so far but is still perfectly good to use exactly as is. Also easily adjusted to shoot heavy or light loads depending on how the friction ring collars are set up on the magazine tube. The new A5 options are GREAT guns but nowhere even close the build quality of these older / originals. Even so they come with a 100,000 shot warranty. As such pretty sure this will still cope with that number and more still. Overall this shows minimal signs of much use since new. More than a fair chance, even likelihood this will still be working well into the next century! £399.99 WORRIED ABOUT STEEL SH-T? DO PLEASE READ TO THE BOTTOM: Back to the Steel SH-T: THERE ARE more and more None Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern day shooting. IF its so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth? Anyway, take a look for yourself: https://www.hortonguns.com/?page_id=819 NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET. YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond! On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons. RING for an update and keep checking the web site. FOR (AS UP TO DATE AS POSSIBLE!) STOCK DETAILS CHECK OUT OUR OWN WEBSITE DIRECT. THERE ARE A LOT MORE GUNS LISTED THERE IN ALL CATEGORIES as well as MANY other hard to find items for all areas of shooting and what we don’t have we can try to source: https://www.emma-rifles.co.uk
