Description

An interesting two band snider short rifle built on an ordanance pattern 1858bar on band short rifle. Border engraved Tower lock which is dated 1877 (overstamped from 186?) with a flat faced Mk3 Snider hammer. Walnut stock with regulation pattern 1858 steel furniture including long trigger guard tang and square section jag cleaning rod to the underside. Birmingham proofed 3 grooved rifle with ladder rear sight graduated to 1100 yards.

A Commercial conversion of a millitary rifle sold for use by a voulenteer soldier or a target shooter of the day. The ordinance never converted the non-interchangeable P58's for service issue but a few ere converted like this by the Birmingham and London gun trades.

In good condition with a good bore and good mechanics , good tight lock up and very nice sharp stock. A good example of a scarce volunteer pattern of a Snider Short rifle.
