Manufactured between 1962 - 1967, the Ishapore 2A1 has the distinction of being the last bolt action service rifle to be adopted by a major army. Taking its design cues from the British SMLE it differed by being chambered in 7.62 NATO, having an updated 800m sight, and being fitted with an Indian pattern FAL butt plate. It entered Indian service in 1963 and remains in use by the countries police force to this day.
This rifle has had a replacement lower furniture to remove the wire wrap that was attached originally, the bolt fixing the stock together is of the type fitted to grenade launching variants, however this is not the case for this rifle. The rifle has matching bolt and receiver numbers also.
