Gun Fitting
Regardless of the value of your gun, Ian Coley is encouraging of the correct gun fit to ensure you get the best out of your shooting.
How your gun fitting session works
Ian Coley suggests shooting one of their try guns and testing it on a pattern plate as well as clays. This will enable the gun room team to adjust and observe what needs altering.
Once the gun has been adjusted to your requirements, you will then go through a mounting process. This will consist of mounting the gun into your shoulder so that any minor adjustments can be made. These can be things like the cast, cheek position, etc. After these changes appear to suit you, the gun can be tested on the pattern plate again. If the gun requires further adjustment, these will show on the plate.
The following adjustments are recorded as measurements and later sent to the gunsmith along with your gun. If you are carrying out this process with a new gun you will be required to test the gun out after the changes have been made. For a second-hand gun, the gunsmith will only alter the gun’s current specifications rather than make a gun to measure.
